What is Barrett Downtown?

Barrett Students with majors in the Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, the College of Nursing and Healthcare Innovation, the School of Community Resources and Development, the School of Public Affairs, the School of Social Work, the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice, and the School of Letters and Sciences are located on the vibrant Downtown Phoenix campus, where we have a special residential community in Taylor Place as well as many other exciting intellectual, social, community and cultural opportunities for students.

Our Barrett Downtown experience offers priority registration, academic honors advising from honors faculty and staff, small, unique classes offered only to Barrett students, honors-specific opportunities for study abroad, research, internship and community service experiences, and access to a wide Barrett alumni and employer network. Barrett has the largest faculty and staff of any honors college in the country, which means we can devote many resources to the honors experience at ASU. At the same time, Barrett creates a small, personal community within larger ASU, an exceptional research institution. Barrett’s $12mln endowment is used exclusively to support honors students and their projects.

The Downtown Phoenix campus is the perfect setting for multiple service opportunities and internships with nonprofit, government and corporate entities that partner with ASU, and Barrett specifically. Barrett Downtown students – living in our residential community in Taylor Place or nearby off campus – engage with Barrett faculty, staff and student community leaders dedicated to enhancing your honors experience in all ways, particularly by taking advantage of the amenities and services exclusive to living on a Downtown metropolitan campus.
